10 Simple Measures for Losing Weight

There are times when you have to give in to your cravings just like a trip to the grocery, a small accomplishment to celebrate or a night out sponsored by a friend. Before you know it, those “rare instances” have piled up together with calories and you’ll end up wondering how your new jeans became tight.
In order to help you with your ultimate resolution, here are ten pointers to remind yourself so as to ban those extra pounds from your body:
•Keep moving. Choose to take the stairs instead of the elevator. This is a simple exercise you can do when going to work or during breaks. Brisk walking is another effective exercise you can do anytime. Go out early in the morning and take a stroll around your neighborhood. Better yet, just minimize the use of cars especially if you can just walk your way to your destination.
•Make it interesting. Maintain a regular exercise but take a break at least once a week to give your body time to cool down. Make your workout more interesting and fun, turn on the radio and move to the beat.
•Postpone the weight check. You might get too excited in checking your weight but don’t do this everyday. Weight loss is not instantaneous, you might get discouraged to see the same weight after every workout. It's better if you will hit the weighing scales just every other week or so.
•Stick to the schedule. Don’t start skipping exercise or you’ll find excuses not doing it at all. Set a time where you can do exercise daily without distractions and follow it religiously. Excusing yourself even once might develop into a bad habit.
•Start it right. Never begin with a strenous routine without a warm-up first unless you want to end up having cramps. Likewise, end your exercise by lying down and relaxing your muscles for several minutes to cool down.
•Eat what you want. You’ve read it right; you can always indulge to your favorite food. We all know how hard it is to suppress our appetite especially when temptations are everywhere. But the catch is you can only avail of this advice every two weeks and not on a daily serving.
•Losing weight doesn't mean getting hungry. Depriving yourself of food will just lead to lack of nutrition. When you feel your stomach rumbles, by all means eat! But remember that you cant just eat anything you like. Stock more on healthy foods that you can reach whenever you're hungry. They should be rich in fiber and water so you don’t add on calories like greens vegetables, carrots and fruits. Make vegetable salad but skip the fatty dressing.
•Take your time. During main meals, focus on your food and eat slowly so as to savor its flavor. It would also be nice to have someone to share your meal with so you can avoid the possibility of stuffing spoonfuls one after the other.
•Skip fast foods. Avoid foods that contain too much sugar, fat and salt. This include fast foods, processed foods and bottled sugar-water also known as soda.
•Hit the sack early. Limit your extra rituals during the night that can be skipped like watching TV or playing computer games. You’ll not only save on electricity consumption, you’ll also be spared from the temptation of sneaking in the kitchen for a midnight snack.
